Connected lighting offers opportunities to bring back natural and emotional lighting into our homes. These fascinating light effects can provide a more natural experience for people at home. However, the increasing possibilities also brings complexity in the light control when having to manage more then a few lamps in a room. That is why I have designed two tangible light controllers which fit directly into the daily routines of people at home. A base controller at the position of the conventional light switch next to the door. This controller allows you to do basic control like dimming warmth and cold light in one easy expressive motion. The other part of the design is a portable controller which allows you to play with more light effects like colour and dynamics in the room through the use of coloured gradients. These tangible products offer the users a natural way to control the light and reduces the complex possibilities to intuitive actions. This new way of control is intuitive to people and easy to fit into their daily routines. The designs can form the bridge between the increasing possibilities in lighting technology and the current way users experience the light.
